We can't change the past, but we can move forward from where we are.
The Start Where We Are Earth Music Festival was founded by Sofia Villarreal and brought to life by a passionate group of students from Berklee College of Music. This festival is more than just a celebration of music—it's a movement dedicated to healing our planet and communities through the transformative power of music.
Inspired by the question, “How can musicians and artists make a meaningful impact on the climate crisis?” The festival was born out of a deep commitment to environmental activism. Every aspect of the event, from the incredible live performances to the eco-friendly vendors, was designed with the planet in mind. Proceeds from the festival support organizations at the forefront of the fight against climate change, ensuring our collective efforts make a lasting impact.
The inaugural festival, held at the Boston Common Parkman Bandstand in 2023, marked the beginning of a larger mission to blend art, community, and environmental stewardship. As we look to the future, each event will carry forward this spirit of collaboration, awareness, and action—cultivating a network of artists and audiences passionate about making a difference.
